| San Joaquin Valley Border Collie Association RULES GOVERNING SJVBCA HIGH POINT DOG OF THE YEAR Handler and owner of dog must be a paid up member of the San Joaquin Valley Border Collie Association at the time dog participates in a trial. Trial must be open or limited to all members of SJVBCA. (NO INVITATIONAL TRIALS ELIGIBLE) CLASSES ELIGIBLE TO PARTICIPATE ARE: OPEN, PRO-NOVICE,AND NOVICE. Three or more members of SJVBCA must be participating in a trial in each class for that class to count toward High Point Dog Award. Points must be won in Trials held in California only. A dog must participate in a least two SJVBCA sponsored trials. Every dog gets one point for participating in a class. Every dog gets one point for every dog that he outscores in a class. (Example: If 15 dogs are participating in a class and a dog places fourth, he gets one point for participating plus 11 points for outscoring 11 other dogs. Total score 12 points.) Results of a trial must be sent to club Secretary and must include ALL dogs that run; included must be the handlers name, name of dog, date, name of judge, and in the order of placing starting from 1st. to last dog. If the trial has a qualifying run and a final run, then the results of both must be reported to the Secretary. It shall be the responsibility of handlers to see that the results are received by the Secretary of the club after each trial, dead line February 1st. of the year following the trials. If a trial limits handlers to only one dog in the finals and one or more handler has a dog disqualified from entering the finals because of this rule, even though he or she may have scored higher than dogs going to the finals, then the scores to be used for the top dog award will be the scores of the qualifying run and not the score for the final run.
